I’ve decided to start a blog for two reasons:
1) It’s been on my to-do list for over a year. And…
2) Steve Browne inspired me. He wrote a post called HR Evangelism, about how we should help others gain access to the HR tools, resources, and people we have been lucky enough to acquire through our adventures in HR, and as SHRM volunteer leaders.
Steve’s message really struck a chord with me, and over the course of a distracted workout, it occurred to me that I wasn’t exactly practicing what I preach. He made me think that through in a way I hadn’t since I finished my SAHRMA presidency.
Break time is officially over. It’s time to get back to doing what I often refer to as “the good works” of human resources.
So here’s how this will work…
This blog will be informal. I won’t profess to know everything, my syntax won’t always be perfect, and my posts won’t be very long.
What I WILL DO, however, is provide tools, resources, and ideas to anyone who visits. Most of my posts will consist of a quick paragraph or three on a topic, then a set of links where you can read what the real blogging pros think on the same subject.
I’ve been extraordinarily lucky in my career to have been mentored by amazing people. They provided great opportunities for me, and I’ve been able to meet amazing people (like Steve) along the path that they originally set me on.
It’s my turn to give back, if even in the smallest, simplest of formats.
And so the blog begins…
