One of the quirky things about any visit to NYC is the voice of the “stand clear of the closing doors” guy on the subway system.
I’ve always thought the voice was out of place because it leans towards a western drawl. I like to describe it as a mix of “Woody” from Toy Story (“There’s a snake in my boots!) and John Wayne (“Well good luck, pilgrim”).
Anyway, imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon a video by The New Yorker on the man behind the voice in the subway. It turns out he’s Brittish, doesn’t have an accent, and works for Bloomberg Radio!
He’s got an interesting story, and it’s worth checking out if you have been, or ever plan to visit NYC.
