NYC15, Day 4: Deer Frida

I’m back in Texas, and I just woke up from the most epic nap. I dreamt that I was out and about and a man with a deer head came marching down the stairs. Post travel sleep, what can you say?

Anyway, yesterday was our last day full day in NYC, and we worked our way up north to The Bronx to visit the New York Botanical Garden where incredible flowers like this are on display:

Mostly, we were there to see the “Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life“. The exhibit housed a number of her rare works (no pics allowed), replications of “Casa Azul“, the house she lived in with Diego Rivera, and most impressively, many of the same plants she had in her garden and home.

Later that evening we went to Threes Brewing to settle in for an early evening before packing for our early flight the next morning. While there…oh God…it WASN’T a dream!!!
We then walked to dinner at the oldest Italian restaurant in Brooklyn, but along the way, we stopped to gaze upon the dark waters of the local friendly superfund site, Gawanis Canal. Hurray!

After a long morning of travel, it’s good to be back home, where it still feels like Spring. Our last day in NYC was freezing. The temps hovered in the low 40’s and it was windy most of the day.  God bless Uber, for saving us from the NYC cold (which always FEELS 10 degrees colder than it actually is); when we grabbed our cab this morning, it was 33 degrees outside!

That’s it for now. Stay tuned for my post on Thursday about something or another, but only if you too have a newly realized fear of men with deer heads marching down the stairs.
