When a door doesn’t do what it appears it is designed to do, it’s called a Norman Door.
I’ve been annoying my friends and coworkers with that little fun fact the last two weeks or so. I share this little tidbit of insight just after they, or we, encounter a Norman door in the wild.
When walking into a restaurant, for example, one might think the door is a “pull” when it is really a “push”.
Why a “Norman Door” you might ask? Well, Human-Centered Design, that’s why!
