On Tuesday I wrote that no matter the result of the election, “everything will be fine.”
And SINCE Tuesday, I’ve spent almost every waking minute trying to convince myself that this is the case. I have genuine fears for the safety, well-being, and prosperity of my family and friends.
I hope that I’m overthinking it. I hope that in fact, everything will be fine.
Hope, however, is not a strategy.
So I keep coming back to one of my favorite quotes; a passage from Man’s Search for Meaning:
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom” – Viktor Frankl
Once more for emphasis:
“In our response lies our growth and our freedom”
I’m counting on it.
