It’s time for my last “Pics of the Month” for 2016. Here are a few of the Instagram posts that made the month of December:
La Antorcha de Allergies
At the start of December I was fighting through the remnants of poorly timed cough/cold. It eventually forced me to miss the San Antonio Rock and Roll Half Marathon, but not before I fought through some wind, rain and cold to get to the expo to pick up my race bib just in case. Here is the “La Antorcha de la Amistad” in downtown San Antonio on that cold, miserable day.
11 Days
At work, we get a great big pile of time off over the Christmas and New Year holidays, and we openly refer to it as the most wonderful time of the year. Having the opportunity to completely recharge while the entire organization is closed is a benefit we are incredibly thankful for!
Gorritas Por Vida
I hate selfies. Actually, I hate taking selfies. No, I just hate selfies. I posted this one because the warmest gorrita I own was purchased for $6.00 (see caption below), and because the sky turned out just right. The moral of the story? If you’re ever in NYC, buy a gorrita from a street vendor!
Luxurious Mosaics
During Christmas break my brother and I went on a long walk down the Riverwalk and we saw all kinds of cool art installations, including the mosaic below, and this one too. We finally took a break at The Luxury where we sat for a while, and had a drink. I had a Mosaic IPA. See what I did there???
Seasons Siblings
I’m glad my sister suggested we take this photo at Christmas. She had to herd cats a bit to get us all lined up right and to get my Dad to take the photo, then do it all over again to take a few other shots with her and our parents. And then I got to steal it and post it on Instagram! Hey, I’m the oldest, I can do what I want!
Sunset on 2016
Sunrises and sunsets in winter are always amazing, but this particular one was something else. As a year full of personal, professional, political, cultural turbulence winded down, there was just something about this sunset that served as a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us always (even when we have a crappy year).
