The National will release it’s seventh studio album, “Sleep Well Beast” on September 8. Ahead of that, they released “The System Only Dreams in Darkness”, and “Guilty Party” this summer.
Easily one of my favorite bands, The National consistently creates music that is dark, contemplative, and worthy of a rainy day. That’s not to say it’s “feel terrible about yourself music”. It’s contemplative, and science says that’s worth exploring.
It always sounds great too.
“Guilty Party” is no exception. It’s hard to avoid getting sucked into, and when you do, it’s hard not to get lost in thought, even when you don’t identify with the lyrics.
Check it out:
“You’re sleeping night and day; how’d you do it? Me I am wide awake; feeling defeated”
