I’m In: The Brooklyn Half

I managed to register for the Brooklyn Half Marathon.

This means that I’ve gone from half marathon FOMO to “I’m registered, OH NO” in about two weeks.

I’m excited about the prospect of venturing back up to NYC for a few days, visiting family and friends, taking it relatively easy, and then running 13.1 miles on a Saturday in May. It will do me good to get out of town in late spring, before the productive madness of #SHRM18 and the destructive heat of summer sets in.

But then there are the details…

I have to get in shape. To do so, I need to be consistent over the next 15 weeks or so. This task has eluded me over the last few years, and especially over the last 12 months. The work, however, must be done. It’s one thing to be undertrained and run a race at home, and a completely different thing to be undertrained while traveling.

What have I gotten myself into??? A challenge worth pursuing!

Perhaps it’s exactly what I need right now. Perhaps it’s just the thing to shake me out of my running slump. Maybe, just maybe, it will be what gets me back on track.

One thing is for sure. I’ll have a few stories to share along the way.

More to come.
