Every year the walls of jasmine near my office bloom, and every year (by plan or default) I find myself on a walk to take them in. Spring is a time of renewal, a time to savor between the relative cold of winter and the overwhelming heat of summer.
Appreciating the little things is often the gateway to appreciating the BIG things.
I’m lucky to work in an area that is within walking distance of the Riverwalk, the Blue Star Arts Complex, the King William District, and downtown San Antonio proper. I’m lucky to be able to step out of the office for a few minutes to clear my head and take in an annual rotation of scenes like this:
It’s not about escaping, it’s about RETURNING with a clear mind.
In a few days the jasmine bloom will pass, and in its place will be another aspect of the neighborhood to appreciate. Along with that will be fresh opportunities to RETURN to the office renewed.
As I have for almost 8 years, I will make time to take them all in.
