“There are some generational and some technological influences, but at its core is the lack of trust and the lack of a relationship,” Escobar said. “It’s been brewing for a long time.
Escobar says companies have had a hand in creating this culture.
Ghosting is probably still more commonly used by hiring managers against job applicants, Escobar says. “Employers are more hypersensitive to it when it happens to them,” he said. “If you think about what ghosting represents – a lack of respect, a lack of a relationship – you don’t ghost people you know well or trust.”

I have to admit that even though I knew this was a first worth sharing widely with family, friends, colleagues and my network near and far, I wasn’t prepared for the reaction. I wasn’t prepared for this to take on a life of its own, for my boss to share it with folks at the office, and for the heaps upon heaps of congratulatory messages I received.
And while yes, Monday was amazing because of the article itself, it was made infinitely more so by the love and support that was positively unavoidable the entire day.
I’m thankful to have people in my life that do such things. I hope in some small way, I’ve either done so for them at some point or will have the opportunity to do so soon.
