This weekend I had the great fortune to work with HR students from all across the state of Texas, along with many other volunteer leaders and HR professionals at the Texas SHRM Student Leadership Conference and HR Games.
Our committee organized a strategic planing session, facilitated by our SHRM Field Services Director, Sherry Johnson, to help student chapter leaders create action plans to benefit HR students at each of their universities.
We held breakout sessions, facilitated by esteemed HR professionals on career planning, and practical HR applications, and created plenty of networking opportunities for all.
And last but certainly not least, we held an HR Games competition, a jeopardy style tournament based on the HR body of knowledge necessary to pass a SHRM Certification test! Our top teams were 3) UT Tyler, 2) Baylor, and our champions, 1) UT Dallas!
I say it all the time, and it remains true, the future of HR in Texas is bright! I can’t wait to see what is in store for these soon to be HR professionals!
