Remember the Blue Sky

When I took the photo below, it was at the end of a brilliant afternoon.

The sun was shining, the weather was perfect, and clouds had rolled in just as the day closed to create a spectacular sunset. Amid the covid-19 pandemic and spending the vast majority of my time at home, these are the days that feel amazing. Everything FEELS better, more endurable, and hopeful when the sun shines and the day ends with such beauty.

But the next day, when I posted this photo to Instagram, it was the exact opposite. It was cold, rainy, and cloudy. It was the kind of day that makes it challenging to muddle through day-to-day routine. Everything feels difficult on a day like this.

But it reminded me of a quote I’ve come back to over and over the last few years, and especially over the previous 11 months:

Remember the blue sky. It may at times be obscured by clouds, but it is always there.” -Andy Puddicombe

As we continue our journey through these difficult times, and especially when things feel most challenging, remember that there is still good in our lives, that there is happiness and hope to be found all around us, even when these things are not readily apparent.

And often, we need only to take a step back from our thoughts a bit to gain the kind of perspective that will help us see our way through to brighter days.
